PLEASE NOTE NEW FEES STARTING FOR THE 2022 YEAR.
Every year, all dog owners in the Town of Townsend must obtain a license for their dog by the last day in February otherwise you will need to pay a late fee of $10.00 as of March 1st and a fine of $50 as of May 1st. You may purchase your license at the Town Clerk's Office at the Town Hall starting the second week in December. The fee for a dog license in Townsend is $8.00 for a spayed or neutered dog, $13.00 for unaltered dogs. Checks, cash and credit/debit cards accepted (Unibank fee for credit/debit apply). The dog licenses or Kennel licenses are good for one calendar year only. Licenses expire December 31st of that year.

Kennel licenses are also available. They may also be obtained at the Town Clerk's office. Before you can obtain a Kennel license you will need to contact the Animal Control Officer.
Kennel fees are as follows:
- 4 dogs or less - $30.00
- 5 to 10 dogs - $60.00
- Over 10 dogs - $90.00
