Council on Aging
The Council on Aging is responsible for identifying the needs of Townsend's 60 and over population (and their families) by designing, promoting, implementing and coordinating services to fill their needs; promoting and supporting other programs, and collaborating with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs. This task is accomplished through various activities including:
- Operation of the Senior Center at 16 Dudley Road
- Coordination of Road Runner van service
- Meals on Wheels
- Congregate Dining every weekday
- Health-related services such as: Well Adult Clinic, Hearing Clinic, Podiatry, Vision Clinic
- Exercise Classes
- A wide variety of social & recreational programs
- Education Programs
- File of Life Cards & "Safe Seniors" program
- Advocacy, including Long Term Care Ombudsman, a program of Montachusett Home Care Corporation
Members: 9 members, for 3 year terms, staggered so that not more than 3 appointments shall be made in any calendar year
