Veterans Day Observance 11-11-2022

     Townsend VFW Post No. 6538 and its Auxiliary, American Legion Post No. 199 and its Auxiliary, and DAV Chapter 122 will honor all Veterans who currently serve in the military and all Veterans of earlier generations, including those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to maintain our country’s freedom, at a Veterans Day Ceremony to be held at the VFW Park Monument in West Townsend on Friday, November 11, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The public is cordially invited to show their appreciation of those who served and those who still serve by attending the ceremony.  Parents are strongly encouraged to bring their children to the ceremony so they may learn the importance of Veterans Day and what sacrifices were made to make our country great.

  Light refreshments will be served in the VFW Function Hall at 491 Main Street, West Townsend, following the 11:00 a.m. Veterans Day Ceremony.

A Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held outside the VFW Post Home on Veterans Day at approximately 12:00 noon.  Those who have never seen the proper way to respectfully dispose of tattered, torn, or faded flags should find this ceremony to be very meaningful.

It is hoped that many area residents will attend both of these special Veterans Day ceremonies.
